Goa’s Investment promotion Board GIPB – is marching towards bringing maximum quality business for the economic growth of the state. Mainly concentrating onthe on the hospitality industry, the IPB cleared four five star hotels in Bardez and one entertainment mall in Porvorim, besides three industrial projects. The 9th meeting chaired by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar with the CEO Mr, Ashton Gudinho cleared altogether nine projects, including two expansion proposals of Vedanta Group. The nine projects would bring in investment of Rs 1882 crore while creating 2620 jobs. The hospitality projects are coming up in the coastal Bardez taluka. Hilton Group of Hotels is coming up with a five star hotel at Pilern while Models Real Estate Developers is building a five star hotel at Calangute.
Yet another five star hotel has been approved at Malim in Penha da Franca Panchayat.
Models is also coming up with a high end shopping-cum-entertainment mall at Porvorim.
The IPB today also cleared a new pharmaceutical unit at Tuem in Pernem by Centaur Pharmaceuticals. While the IPB had earlier cleared 62 projects with an investment of Rs 7114 crore, these 71 projects are expected to generate total employment of over 14,000 nos.
