BSNL switches to new technology for better services

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd customers in Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Goa will get additional facilities on their landline, experience improved voice quality and broadband services after the service provider begins the use of Next Generation Network (NGN) core switch. 

In the first phase, 1.37 lakh lines will be installed in four telecom districts including Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Goa. Of these, 78,000 lines will be installed in 14 exchanges in Pune city. 

BSNL plans to replace the existing telephone exchanges with Internet Protocol-based next generation network switches. The network will be upgraded to multiple benefits next generation network in five stages.
