PANAJI: Job seekers can now avail the
Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) from the comforts of their homes as the Goa
police department is in the process of introducing the service through a web
application on its website.
The Goa police website is undergoing a
major overhaul offering various people-centric services including two web-based
applications that will enable the public to obtain police clearance and missing
articles certificates.
According to information, last year
around 45,000 missing articles complaints were lodged across the police
stations in the state whereas around 14,000 PCCs were issued.
With the introduction of these two new
web application services, people need not go to the police stations to obtain
certificates towards missing articles or police clearances.
While the Goa police website is being
redesigned and two new web applications are being introduced, the Goa police
department is also introducing a Goa police mobile app (mobile version of the
website) and eye-watch, an emergency mobile application. These apps, according
to information, can be downloaded free of cost and are officially expected to
be launched towards the end of this month.
According to information, this
technological advancement in the Goa police department is being monitored and
supervised by the Cyber Crime SP Karthik Kashyap. “We are almost in the final
stage of redesigning the website and introducing other technological
transformations that will be very helpful to the people as well as help in
policing,” said Kashyap.
“The Goa police website will be more
people-friendly and include two new web applications wherein residents can
obtain digitally-signed Police Clearance Certificates and also lodge a
missing article report,” said Kashyap adding that the “website will also carry
contacts of various emergency services and other information related to
essential services.”
Apart from this, the Goa police
department is also introducing eye-watch, a mobile app, which will come handy
for people in emergency situations. Eye-watch is already in operation in eight
states in the country.
“We are making use of the modern
information technology for better policing and better delivery of services.
Eye-watch mobile app is for emergency response. When the user activates the eye-watch
app, it will record 30-second audio and video, which will be transmitted to the
police control room. Once the data is received, there will be an alert and
apart from the incident, the personnel at the PCR will also get to know of the
sender’s location,” said Kashyap.
He said that the app will alert the
police in time about a particular incident or if a person is in trouble and
will be also helpful in investigation.
Kashyap said that the mobile phone app
of the Goa police department (mobile version of the website), apart from the
various people-friendly services, will help them to report any incident and
share photos or videos.
