Since Goa is a
very small state, there has always been a problem in
getting jobs and hence has led the people to emigrate, opposing this brain
drain 3 Goans, Prajyot Mainkar, Mangirish Salelkar and Nigel Quadros have put Goa on the technology map which of
course not known to feature very high on information technology. Bound by their
love and passion for technology these three entrepreneurs have represented Goa
at the international events such as the Google I/O developer conference,
android developers' meet, CeBIT, AnDevCon among many others.
Mr. Prajyot Mainkar
is the chief executive officer of Androcid Media, he designs mobile applications
for a living and is also the manager of the Goa android users which is the part
of Google’s developers group, and it is one of the oldest android developer communities
known in India.
An android
developers' meet was held in Ankara, Turkey, on May 25 in which the BITS Pilani
and the Mushtifund student was one the key speakers, later he flew to Francisco
to join the Google's I/O developer conference on May 28th and 29th. Looking at
his level of ability, Google itself sponsored Mainkar’s trip to San Francisco
for the I/O developer conference in which Google showcases its latest technology
and future projects.
Indeed Mainkar
put Goa on the global tech map but along with him Salelkar, the chief executive
office of Umang Software Technologies went all the way to Hannover in March to
showcase his company’s work. Among 3300 Umang was the only Goan Company that
featured at CeBIT. CeBIT, the largest computer trade fair, was spread over 4.5
lakh sq metres and is considered a barometer for state-of-the-art technology.
The youngest Goan
to come onto the international scene Nigel Quadros – the Android Guru, the
editor in chief of androguru. He was selected as a media sponsor for AnDevCon
(Android Developers Conference), one of the largest international android
conference which will be held in July in Boston.
