Persistent Systems to double headcount at Goa facility

Jul 30, 2012, 03.49PM IST - TOI
Software exporter Persistent Systems is targeting to double its workforce in Goa to 700 in the next two years, a top company official has said.

"We are already present in Goa through a facility in Verna and talks are on to acquire another building nearby which will help double our staff presence to 700," the Pune-headquartered company's chairman and managing director Anand Deshpande told PTI.

He said the process will require an investment of around Rs 25 to Rs 30 crore.

The company, which has a presence in Nagpur and Hyderabad, is happy about its experience from its operations in the tourism state, especially on the attrition front, he said.

As against an overall average of above 15 per cent attrition, the Goa unit sees only 7-8 per cent of its employees hopping jobs, Deshpande stressed, pointing out to a big pull factor towards increasing its Goa presence.

The company's presence in Goa is already the second biggest in the country after its headquarters Pune, Deshpande said.

It entered Goa in 2005 through the acquisition of ControlNet India for $2 million and has expanded its presence since then, Deshpande said.
