Top rock bands? Best Indian movies? Google adds on-the-spot answers

Google seems to have introduced a new feature to its rapidly growing knowledge graph arsenal that provides instant answers to queries without ever leaving Google.

Try searching for Top rock bands or Best Indian movies and you'll be greeted by results in a carousel format, complete with movie posters or band photographs.

That's not all, Google gets more specific - try search for Best Tamil moviesBest action moviesBest Hindi movies of 2011 or Best Hindi comedy moviesBest jazz artists and, no doubt, much, much more.

Google's Knowledge Graph is an attempt by the dominant search engine to provide answers as quickly and concisely as possible so users don't have to sift through a hodgepodge of Web links displayed on the main results page.

Knowledge Graph was rolled out to users in the US first. While Google claims to have rolled out Knowledge Graph earlier this week to users worldwide, we couldn't replicate the above results on google.co.in. In case you don't see the carousel by clicking on the above links, visit Google's US site by clicking here or typing google.com/ncr in your address bar and manually searching for these terms.

Let us know what other surprises you uncover - happy hunting!
