Microsoft’s forthcoming Surface tablet’s release has not been delayed here in the UK, despite emails from the company telling those who had ordered the new slate that it wouldn’t be available until 2 November.
After a story appeared on The Verge detailing the message, Microsoft has moved to clarify the issue. In a statement, the Redmond-based company said, “All customers should expect their devices by the original date given when orders were placed. Microsoft is following up with customers to confirm their original shipping date remains unchanged, and we apologize [sic] for any inconvenience caused."
This is good news for those who had already laid down cash for a Microsoft Surface. The device is expected to be in users’ hands from the end of October.
Microsoft is hoping that its new tablet can gazump the forthcoming iPad Mini, as well as giving new budget efforts from Google and Amazon a run for their money.
